NUJ FCT Chair, Grace Ike, wins African Leadership Excellence Award

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Comrade Grace Ike has received the African Leadership Excellence Award at the African Legendary Award (AFRILA 2025).

Ike who is the first female to be ever elected as chairman of the FCT council was recognised for her outstanding leadership, humanitarian efforts, and strong influence as a broadcast journalist.

The award was presented at the third edition of the African Legendary Award in Abuja.

Ike who was represented by Ebriku John Friday, editor of the NUJ FCT online news platform’s leadership qualities were highlighted.

This include but not limited to her focus on the well-being of journalists, inclusivity, and transformation.

Ike expressed her gratitude to the organisers for the recognition and dedicated the award to God and to members of the NUJ FCT Council, for their unwavering support during her election and since her inauguration, urging journalists to continue to uphold ethical standards in their work, strive for fair and balanced reporting.

With over 17 years of experience as a broadcast journalist, Grace Ike currently works with the Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN) in Abuja.
