An Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr Aisha Abubakar, has called for more formidable force amongst women towards effective participation in governance. This according to her is to engender massive contributions from the womenfolks in contributing their quotas to national development.
Dr Aisha Abubakar who is currently the most senior serving female police officer in the country made the call during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Thursday at the Police force headquarters, Abuja
She stressed the need for more synergy and collaborations among women groups in mentoring and empowering younger generation as well as waging war against all forms of violence against women.
The AIG, who is also the current first female National President of Nigeria Council of Veterinary Doctors commended the commitments of the present IGP for being gender sensitive and promoting better welfare packages for female officers.
Earlier in her remarks, the FCT Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene congratulated the AIG for her recent well earned promotion, while praying that she makes it to the apex of her profession by becoming the first female Inspector General of Police, IGP, in the not so distant future.
Comrade Okoh- Esene reiterated the efforts of FCT NAWOJ in advancing the course of women and children, and expressed optimism that the already established relationship and partnership would impact positively on women in the country.
Comrade Okoh-Esene informed the AIG that NAWOJ FCT visit was a way of felicitating with her and seek areas for mutual collaborations.
Okoh-Esene appealed for support for the forthcoming association’s triennial delegates conference holding from 10-12th November 2020 in Minna, Niger state.
