Football took its toll on a prominent medical doctor and politician, Dr. Cairo Ojougbo as he slumped and died yesterday while watching the semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa at the ongoing African cup of Nations, AFCON.
According to reports, In the course of the match, a penalty was awarded against Nigeria. And as soon as the South Africa team scored against Nigeria, Dr. Ojougboh was reported to have screamed, and then collapsed.
Sadly, he passed on.
Dr. Ojougbo who was the best graduating medical student during his studies at the University of Benin.
He later veered into politics where he made a name for himself.
Commenting on the demise of Ojougbo, Comrade (Engr) Igbini Odafe Emmanuel said; “Oh, No! Dr Cairo Ojougboh, this is painful and so so painful personally to me because this death was totally avoidable and unnecessary.
“Why did you have to allow yourself get so much emotionally attached to the Super Eagles that has for long become so so unpredictable in it performances?
“Since the name was changed from Green Eagles to Super Eagles, I stopped watching their Live matches the same way I stopped watching those of my other darling team (Arsenal) because I hate unpredictable performances in football. So sad! RIP, Brother”
