Authorities of Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa state say it had intercepted nine travelers at Keffi who came from Kano and returned them to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the area.
Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Sani-Maigoro, disclosed this at a news briefing in Keffi, headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of the state, yesterday.
He disclosed that the council had also intercepted six vehicles with passengers from Kano and Lagos and returned them back to their various destinations recently.
According to him, “ the council has set up a task force on COVID 19 and station them on entry points bordering Keffi in order to contain the spread of coronavirus in the area.
” the COVID-19 task force committee are working both day and night in order to ensure that people adhere strictly to government directives against COVID.
” This is evident in the interception of nine passengers in a Bus coming from Kano yesterday and arrest of violators of government proclamation and the travellers were returned back to Kano yesterday ”
” In Keffi, the council is enforcing His Excellency, governor Andullahi Sule’s proclamation such as stay at home, ban on social gatherings, closure of worship centres, ban on motorcycles, tricycles aim at curtailing the spread of COVID-19 ”
He revealed that arrangement has been concluded for the evacuation of Almajiri to their states of origin, saying the council was not resting on it’s oars in ensuring the welbeing of it’s citizens.
