Death in Doma LGA rises to 10

Deathth toll into the attack on Ajimaka and adjoining villages by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Doma Local Goverernment Area of Nasarawa state, has risen to ten.

Eyewitness account said body of a young killed by the attackers was recovered along Ajimaka Yogbo road yesterday, bringing the number of persons killed in the attack to ten.

Meanwhile, residents in the areas including Gboigyo and other villages around Ankoma, Gidan Rai and Agwan Yara, have fled their homes following fear of attack by the Ak 47 wielding gunmen, hiding in the bush around the area.

A fleeing resident of Gboigyo who simple gave his name as Terseer, told our Correspondent on telephone that” we ran out from the village last night because of the heavy presence of herdsmen with the cattles around our village”

” Now we don’t know what will happen to our houses and our crops on our farms. I am appealing to goverernment to come to our aid” said Terseer.

Meanwhile, the police in Nasarawa state say it has commenced investigation into the attacks on Ajimaka and other villages in Doma district of Doma Local Area of the state.

In a statement issued Saturday by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Rahman Nansel, and made available to newsmen in Lafia, said a team of personal had been deployed to the area to tackle the situation.

He said” On 24/4/2021, at about 0600hrs, information was received on the same date that about 0100hrs, unknown assailants attacked Ajimaka village of Nasarawa/Benue boundary, Doka district of Doma”

“Upon receipt of the information, a joint team of police and military personnel were deployed to the scene, where nine corpses were recovered; each with multiple machete cuts,”

The statement commiserate with families of the desaesed and called on the public to assist the police with information that could assist in it’s investigation. Meanwhile, the leadership of Tiv Redevelopment Association (TIDA) had called for an emergency meeting of stakeholders of Tiv extraction, today to discuss and find the way forward.
