With the celebration of International Women’s Day, Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, Director of Edo GIS, has extended warm greetings to all women, particularly those in Edo State.
According to him; “Your contributions to our society are invaluable, and we recognize the pivotal role you play in shaping our communities.
“The theme of this year’s celebration is a testament to the indispensable nature of women. As the saying goes, “Women, not men, are in principle the more complete persons.” This statement underscores the unique capacity of women to nurture and preserve human life independently.
“As we acknowledge the significance of women, I would like to highlight the Edo State government’s commitment to empowering women, particularly in the areas of economic development and food security. The N1 billion grant allocated to market women in Edo State is an evidence to this commitment.
“This initiative aims to provide financial support to women entrepreneurs, enabling them to grow their businesses and contribute to the state’s economic growth. By doing so, we recognize the critical role women play in feeding their families and communities.
“As we celebrate women’s achievements today, we also acknowledge the challenges they face. We recognize that women’s empowerment is not only a moral imperative but also essential for building a more equitable and prosperous society.
“In Edo State, we are dedicated to creating an environment that supports women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship. We believe that by providing women with the necessary resources and opportunities, we can unlock their full potential and create a brighter future for all”
He therefore wished all women a happy International Women’s Day.
“Your contributions to our society are invaluable, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to support and empower you. He said.
