It was an atmosphere of glamor and funfair recently at the Okada Avenue GRA Benin City, Headquarters of the Edo State Security Vigilante Network, where top operatives of the management cadre, sector commanders, operatives and civilian staff gathered to celebrate one year in office of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN), Coordinator, Col Kola Omomia rtd.
The event which was celebrated in thanksgiving to God and immense gratitude and praises for the administration of his Excellency ,Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor and his able deputy, Comrade Phillip Shaibu as well as the ‘Man Behind’ the engine room of the administration, the man better also known as the ‘Silent – Significant’, Secretary to the state government, Barrister Osarodion Ogie.
In a brief speech, the state Coordinator thanked the government for the support it got which enabled the network to make resounding successes and achievements in the one year under review.
From the provision of vehicles, monthly allowances, a befitting office space, training of Edo North operatives and hunters as well as concluded plans to train operatives from Edo South and Edo Central, it is kudos galore for the state government
In his remarks, Col Omomia rtd also thanked the Head of Service, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Iyokhai,the Chief security officer to the governor, the state police commissioner , the state Director of the DSS, heads of security agencies in the state, and the Brigade Commander, 4 Mechanised Brigade, Benin City, as well as senior operatives in the management cadre, sector commanders, commanders and operatives of the network across the 18 local government areas for their loyalty, support and dedication to duty.
He urged all operatives, both those in top echelon to continue to imbibe that spirit of loyalty, diacipline and in strict adherence to the core value of the ESSVN so that more achievements can be made going forward
“Our ultimate goal is zero tolerance to Insecurity and any form of criminality. Though we are achieving it, we are not yet there”, he admitted.
“Edo people must continue to sleep with two eyes closed. And business, with immense investment by the state government in infrastructures, and the high turn over of investors in the state is an indication that Edo is safe. And we must improve the momentum in ensuring a 24- he security and surveillance” he added
Also speaking at the ceremony, some staff expressed pleasant feelings on the positive impacts the State Coordinator had made in ensuring that crimes, criminalities, indicipline and other social vices had been brought to zero tolerance in the state and and the Security Network in particular.
“No doubt, his administration on security matters since one year he had been in office was to ensure Edo State takes a new dimension on efforts in combating crimes in various sectors vis-a- vis , the Operative Sectors in the three Senatorial Districts” said an official
Speaking also, another operative noted that “The Headquarters of the Network presently is taking a new look: Offices have been created there by giving room for efficiency and productivity for staff to excel in their various specialty”
To this end, “we” your followers raise our caps and shower more grace to your elbow our indefatigable, proficient leader. A great leader indeed we are “gratewise” to associate with you sir.
“Don’t relent until security matters in the state is taken to the highest level whereby other states will come over to the state copy our style of curbing crimes, criminalities, indicipline, and other social vices. Once again, “Bonne anniversary Monsieur”
