Encroach on govt land and face the wrath–Gov. Sule

The Nasarawa State Government has warned individuals encroaching into government reserved areas and layouts in some local government Areas of the state to desist henceforth, or face the wrath of the law.

Consequently, the government said it had set up a seven- man committee to review all existing report on encroachment and distortion of Government layouts and G.R.As in the state and turn in it’s report in three weeks.

Commissioner of Lands and Urban Development in Nasarawa state, Prof. Salihu Aligaza, issued the warning at a meeting with heads of departments and Agencies under the ministry yesterday in Lafia, stressed the need for synergy between the ministry and agencies to halt the unlawful practice.

In a press statement signed by Head, Information and Public Relations in the ministry, Titus Mangut and made available to Journalists in Lafia, lamented the rate at which government reserved areas in some local government Areas in the state were being encroached upon, saying such must be stopped.

The statement said: ” we have observed with the rate at which Government lands are being taken over without tittles the ministry will not condone such illegality”

The statement stressed the need for strong synergy with the revelevant agencies to check the activities of those encroaching on government reserved areas for the interest of government.
