Monthly Sanitation Exercise: Task Force Member Arrested for Violation.

A member of the taskforce enforcing the monthly sanitation exercise was among 61 offenders apprehended for violating environmental sanitation law in Nasarawa state over the weekend in Lafia.

The offenders were apprehended by taskforce for violating various environmental sanitation laws of the state during weekend environmental sanitation exercise.

Briefing Journalists shortly after the sanitation exercise at the weekend in Lafia, Chief Sanitation Inspector, Abubakar Mohammed, disclosed that nine offenders were apprehended in Lafia, the state capital, 26 in
Karu, while 14 were arrested in Keffi.

He mentioned that 8 persons were arrested at Akwanga, headquarters of the home local government Area of Governor Abdullahi Sule, while 5 and 8 persons were arrested from Nasarawa Eggon and Doma local government Areas respectively.

He disclosed that majority of those arrested were motorists and commercial motorcyclists popularly known as okada, who were apprehended while plying some major streets and federal roads in the metropolis during the sanitation hours, saying the member of the taskforce who happened to be a civil servant would be made to face disciplinary actions.

The chief sanitation inspector who expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance, noting that no shop opened during the exercise. He admonished residents of the state to always keep thier surroundings clean especially now that the dry season is about to set in to aviyod fire outbreaks.
