NLC calls out members for mass action as police invites Ajaero

*in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

Aftermath, of the police invitation to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Joseph Ajaero, to appear  before it, the union has called out it’s entire workforce to embark on an indifinite strike action starting by 12 midnight today, 20th August, 2024.

This was contained in a communique issued today by the union and signed by its deputy President , comrade Ado Sani Minjabir.

The NLC appealed for extension of time it’s president will present himself to the police authority seeing the time set for the invitation was too sudden.

Recall that the Nigeria Police Force officially summoned Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

The letter of invitation, issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Guzape District, Abuja, was dated August 19, 2024. It specifically directed Ajaero to report to the IRT Complex, Old Abattoir, Guzape Junction, Abuja, by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

The letter warned that failure to honor the invitation could lead to the activation of a warrant for Ajaero’s arrest.

The investigation is being handled by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) under the leadership of ACP Adamu S. Mu’azu.
