It is obviously eureka for many Edolites as Edo marks it’s 34th anniversary under the able leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
There is indeed a need to roll out the drums and blow the trumpet to celebrate. This call is necessitated because, for the first time since it’s creation, the stated is witnessing tremendous transformation under GOV OKPEBHOLO.
Okpebholo in his goodwill message while Celebrating the state’s FOUNDING FATHERS, Called FOR UNITY, congratulated all Edo people, both at home and in the diaspora.
The Governor described the indomitable spirit of the people of Edo State as unique and irreplaceable.
He paid tribute to the founding fathers and past leaders whose vision and sacrifices have laid the groundwork for the progress the State has achieved.
Hear him; “Today, we celebrate 34 years of our existence as a state,” Governor Okpebholo said. “This is not just a celebration of a date, but a moment to reflect on our journey, acknowledge our achievements, and recommit ourselves to the vision of a prosperous and developed Edo State.”
The Governor highlighted the significant strides made in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development.
He noted that while there have been challenges, the state has consistently moved forward, driven by the collective determination of its people.
”As we look back at the past 34 years, we have every reason to be proud,” he added. “From the ancient kingdom of Benin, a legacy of art, culture, and governance has been passed down through generations. We have built on this foundation, and today, Edo State stands as a beacon of progress and potential.”
Governor Okpebholo used the occasion to call for greater unity among all residents, irrespective of their ethnic or political affiliations. He emphasized that the future of the state depends on the ability of its people to work together towards common goals.
“The task of building the Edo of our dreams is a collective responsibility,” he stated.
“I call on every Edo son and daughter to join hands with my administration in our ongoing efforts to transform our state. Let us put aside our differences and focus on what unites us: our shared desire for a better and more prosperous Edo State.”
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises, particularly in the areas of job creation, improved security, and sustainable development. He assured the people that his government would remain transparent, accountable, and dedicated to serving their best interests.
”As we celebrate this 34th anniversary, let us renew our hope and commitment to a brighter future. I am confident that with God on our side and with our collective effort, we will take Edo State to even greater heights,” the Governor concluded.
It is of note that Gov. Okpebholo has impacted on the structural development of the three Senatorial zones in the state.
He has left skeptics like yours faithfully befuddled by his astute attitude to development.
He has done even more than great heros like Anthony Enahoro, Osaigbovo Ogbemudia and Ambrose Alli, all of blessed memory in such a short period of time since ascension as governor.
Edo state has never had it so good and I am proud to shout to the high heavens that I’m proud to be an Edolite.
I enjoin all and sundry to give Okpebholo a helping hand in making sure that Edo state regains it’s glory as the true heartbeat of the nation.
