RE: Fraud: Abuja Hotelier,Pastor remanded in Prison
*The true side of the story
Recall that PenPushers online newspaper carried a story with the above title on June 28th 2018. The reporter (no longer in our employ) misled management on the true facts of the matter.
We have since gone the extra mile to take the view of the hotelier mentioned in the story, Chief Peter Ojemen (Don P) and represent here the issues at stake.
In a chat with Penpushers, the highly respected Chief maintained that he committed no wrong in leasing his property, LA Don hotel, to the complainant, Mr. Sunny Arusuraire as he remained the bona fide owner of the property, and not the bank, when he decided to enter into a contractual agreement with him.
“I leased my hotel to Sunny at the total sum of Thirty-six million Naira N36,000,000) at N3million per month. He paid for one year and utilised the property for seven months which means he used up N15m.
” Unfortunately, it was after we have entered into this contractual agreement that my bankers came and insisted that I settle my outstanding indebtedness to them. At this point I had to take the bank to court as it negated our terms of agreement. I was in the process of selling the hotel so as to raise money and settle what I owe the bank that a buyer came along. Unforunately, we could not seal a deal because on inspection, we discovered that the complainant, Sunny Arusuraire, had vandalised property worth more than N14.5m and carted same away.
“The police came into the matter and I insisted, he returned the vandalised property before I will pay him the ballance money of what I owe him. Prior to this period, I have paid him the sum of N4m as a brother when he insisted that he was no longer interested in managing the hotel.
If you calculate the seven months he managed the property and the N4m I paid him, you will see that all I’m owing him is just N11m” Ojemen disclosed.
Recall that an Abuja Federal High Court sitting Wise had granted bail to Ojemen on Tuesday June 28, 2018 when the case came up for mention and fixed October 23 for the hearing of the substantive suit.
Editor’s Note:Any embarrassment our earlier publication might have caused High Chief Peter Ojemen is regretted.
