The Senate today confirmed the reappointment of Okobi Emiefele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
his is as the senate also approved June 12 as Democracy Day.
Sitting at plenary today the senate president, Bukola Saraki put to vote the issue whether it should adopt the report of the committee on banking and finance and at the end of the day those in favour carried the day.
is is coming as a rude shock to a whistle blower who trended a video on the social media where Emiefele was purportedly heard devising means to cover a N500bn loss at the apex bank.
Meanwhile, the senate has approved June 12 as Democracy Day. This put into the archives May 29, approved since the advent of the current democratic dispensation.
This means that President Muhammad Buhari will be sworn in on June 12,2019 at a ceremony the presidency has confirmed is going to be low keyed.
