Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Tuesday approved a comprehensive restructuring of the state ministries.

Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, in a statement, said the restructuring led to the creation of additional ministries and the revival of some defunct ones, bringing the total number of ministries in the state to 28.

“The Edo State Government wishes to inform that Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved a comprehensive restructuring of the state ministries.

“This strategic reform is designed to mirror the structure at the Federal level and ensure the seamless alignment of the Governor’s SHINE Agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu.

“In view of this strategic positioning, the Governor has approved the creation of additional ministries and the revival of some defunct ones, bringing the total number of ministries in Edo State to 28.

“This restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency, improve coordination across critical sectors, and strengthen the capacity of government to deliver effectively on its mandate to the people of Edo State,” the statement read in part.

Ikhilor added that commissioners had been assigned portfolios, while a few were redeployed to other ministries.

According to the statement, Felix Akhabue will head the Ministry of Works; Andrew Ijegbai, Ministry of Mining; Prince Kassim Afegbua, Ministry of Information and Strategy; and Paul Ohonbamu, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Others include Omoh Anabor, Ministry of Business, Trade and Investment; Dr Jerry Uwangue, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security; Prof. Omorodion Ikponwosa, Ministry of Livestock Development; Nosa Adams, Ministry of Environment and Sustainability; and Dr Cyril Adams-Oshiomhole, Ministry of Health.

Also appointed are Dr Emmanuel Iyamu, Ministry of Education; Dr Lucky Eseigbe, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development; Hon. Yakubu Musa, Ministry of Lands and Housing; Ohimai Ehijimetor, Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy; and Hon. Etin-Osa Ogbeiwi, Ministry of Science and Technology.

Others are Dr Washington Osa Osifo, Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation; Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, Ministry of Youth Affairs; Eugenia Abdallah, Ministry of Women Affairs; Marie Idaomi, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Usenbo Ehigie, Ministry of Power; and Vincent Uwadiae, Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources.

Additional appointments include Emmanuel Okoebor, Ministry of Finance; Dr Elizabeth Ebosele, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; Saturday Idehen, Ministry of Transportation; Prof. Roland Otaru (SAN), Ministry of Justice; and Godwin Eshieshi, Ministry of Labour and Productivity.

Others are Kenneth Ihensekhien, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, and Ebea Odianosen, Ministry of Public Security and Safety.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy is yet to have a commissioner.

Ikhilor noted that Governor Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to good governance, economic transformation, institutional efficiency, and inclusive development, consistent with both the SHINE and Renewed Hope Agendas.
