Gov Obaseki Commissions World-class Radio Studio

As part of efforts to improve on information dissemination architecture of Edo State, the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has inaugurated a cutting-edge digital radio studio in Benin City.

The latest addition to the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) facilities, marks a key milestone in Governor Obaseki’s mission to elevate the State-owned media landscape to an international standard.

Governor Obaseki, represented by the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, described the new digital radio studio as another giant stride of Governor Obaseki’s quest to place Edo State’s media space in the global spotlight.

Nehikhare stated, “Today, we gather to celebrate a significant milestone in our commitment to communication and community engagement. It is my great honour to represent the Government as we officially commission the brand new FM studio for EBS.

“This state-of-the-art facility is more than just a technological advancement; it is a testament to our dedication to fostering connection and dialogue among our citizens. In an era where information is vital, this studio will serve as a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and cultural expression.

“With this new FM studio, we are not only enhancing our broadcasting capabilities but also empowering local voices and stories. This platform will enable us to reach wider audiences, promote local talent, and ensure that every community has a voice in the conversation.”

Emphasizing the potential impact of the studio, Mr. Nehikhare added, “As we move forward, let us embrace the opportunities this studio presents. Together, we will strengthen our shared values, celebrate our diversity, and build a more informed and engaged society.

“Thank you for being part of this exciting journey. I look forward to seeing the incredible content that will emerge from this studio and the positive impact it will have on our community”.

Earlier in her opening remarks, the Ag. General Manager of EBS, Mrs. Rachael Oboyo, applauded Governor Obaseki’s commitment to development, highlighting the installation of advanced equipment and a digital transmitter at the radio studio. She noted that the studio upgrade enables EBS to broadcast clear signals across Nigeria and beyond, significantly enhancing its fidelity.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the new facilities, which was followed by a live radio broadcast with the Commissioner and other top government officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Orientation, Dr. Desmond Agabma; the immediate past General Manager of the Station, Queeneth Orobedo; and staff of EBS.
