The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that in addition to the card reader authentication, it was going to deploy another innovation called the “Zip with Z-file.”
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, INEC National Chairman made the disclosure in Benin City, capital of Edo State while addressing staff of the Commission.
He explained that the Zip with Z-file, was a tablet with a camera, which at the end of voting and sorting out of ballots, will take a picture and transmit same to a dedicated portal for everyone
to view the polling unit result live and direct.
His words: “The Z-file is a tablet with camera that captures the entire voting exercise in every polling unit. It functions in such a way that at the end of the process after voting has been concluded and sorted out, the ballots counted, the picture of the form ECBA would be taken and transmitted to a dedicated portal so that Nigerians can view the polling unit results live and direct by those closed to the polling units.”He said the innovation was deployed at the Nasarawa State Central Federal Constituency by-election that before the declaration of results, Nigerians were able to view the few clean results of the polling units.“It was a great enhancement of the previous elections and this is the major election after the Nasarawa State by-election, so Edo will set the pace for the conduct of other major by-elections and we look forward to a successful not transmission but availability on form ECBA for public views on election day.The INEC boss admonished staff of the Commission on the need to be neutral in all their doings during the exercise stressing, “Neutrality and professionalism are very important as we are not supporting any political party or the candidate and we are not against any political party or the candidate either.
“Our concern is the integrity and transparency of the process. The choice of who became the governor of Edo State is entirely in the hands of Edo people and we are going to protect the process,” he said.Stressing the importance of opening the polling unit early because the period of election had been adjusted in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.
He also told the staff the importance of opening the polling unit early, pointing out that he wanted Nigerians to find officials and materials waiting for them and not the other way round hence since the issue of logistics had been addressed.
“We have adjusted the opening time from 8am to 8:30; and the closing time from 2pm to 2:30 pm. I am confident you will not let the commission down.We were here four years ago and the lesson we learnt is that we must be able to speed the process and declare the result on time because the longer it takes the more it becomes problematic to manage it. So we must get logistics right”, he declared.
The other number of innovation, introduced by INEC, he said was the policy of conducting election under COVID-19 pandemic.
To address this, Prof. Yakubu said the Commission had made the wearing of mask compulsory and the use of hand sanitizers even as it has made provision for that.
Additionally, he said provisions had been made for infrared thermometer at the collation centres and also working to extend it to polling units.
According to him, “Request had been made to the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to avail the Commission about 3,000 infrared thermometers for polling units and voting points.
“But on our own we have made provision for 192 ward collation centres and when PTF is able to avail us, we will extend it to the collation centres in the 18 local government and state collation centre
“You are required to manage the polling unit in a manner that we have not been doing before as the cubicle would be demarcated in a manner that will give two metres distance between voters since it is going to be accreditation and voting simultaneously.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. John Alalibo Sinikem, said training of adhoc staff, online application wass still ongoing.
Noting the further their preparations for a credible election in the state, Dr. Sinikiem however, decried the budget cut for the election. At the end of the meeting, there was tour of INEC offices and facilities in the state.
[8/30, 10:15 PM] Bobby Eghosa Obayuwana: [8/30, 7:27 PM] +234 813 025 7319: *Edo 2020: Another family calls out Ize-Iyamu over fake endorsement, distances self from APC candidate*
Another notable family in Benin, the Ogunbor family has called out the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his campaign handlers for appropriating its name for endorsement in the September 19 governorship poll, denouncing the candidate for the act and maintaining that they are apolitical in outlook.
In a statement signed by Nosa Ogunbor and published on page 15 of Vanguard Newspaper on Friday, August 28, 2020, entitled Re: Endorsement of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as Oloke Family Governorship Candidate in the Forthcoming Governorship Election in Edo State, the family dissociated itself from the said endorsement.
According to them, “The attention of the Ogunbor family has been drawn to a news item circulating in both Print and Social Media, claiming that the Oloke family of Benin Kingdom, of which the Ogunbor family is part of, has endorsed the Governorship candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as their candidate for the forthcoming election in Edo State.
“We, members of the Ogunbor family branch of the Oloke family, wish to dissociate ourselves from the said endorsement.
“The Ogunbor family, as a unit, has never been politically inclined. However, each member of the Ogunbor family is free to exercise his/her rights to belong to any political party, as their conscience and conviction dictate.”
They continued: “We are thus, through this medium informing the general public that the Ogunbor family is not part of the said endorsement, as this branch of the Oloke family remains apolitical.”
The refutal by the Ogunbor family is coming a day after the Oje of Ora-designate, Prof. Joshua Unuigboje Aisiku, debunked media reports that he conferred the Oyahire of Ora chieftaincy title on the APC guber candidate. Similarly, the Benin Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA), last week, in a statement by its Director General, Imalingmhe John Yesufu, and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr. Bibowei Braie, also refuted claims that it purportedly endorsed the candidate.

*Edo Election: ‘Character, Performance favour Obaseki’*
*ON AUGUST 30, 2020*
*By Isiramen Enobun*
In seasons of intense politics, truth is always the first casualty. So it is in Edo State at the moment, elections are holding on September 19, 2020, and the people are trying to understand the true meaning of reverse thinking, of the difference between the two major candidates, Godwin Obaseki of PDP, who is the incumbent governor, and Ize Iyamu, who is running on the platform of APC, and how Adams Oshiomole has appropriated the story to become the common factor in a context that should otherwise be very exciting.
As it is the beauty of democracy is unfolding in the state. Politicians are crisscrossing the land advertising their wares and capacity, but so also is the nastiness of politics. Some deviants in their midst are threatening fire and brimstone, and the tigers and lions which were once restricted to the Ogba Zoo in Benin City may be released on that particular day.
This is also the season of the appraisal to determine previous performances and readiness or caution for the future. Iyamu has little testimonial here, as he has not been in the front end of politics in the state, thus leaving Obaseki the onerous task of having to pitch for another opportunity to stay for the next four years.
This is where the story begins as quite a number of people believe that Obaseki has really not behaved like a politician, just doing his own things and hoping that his works will speak for him. That runs against the nosiness of the average Nigerian politician who would do a little and spend more money to market and glorify himself. Obaseki can not be accused of this.
But forced to move around and interface with the people he governs for proper interrogation, quite a number of things are coming out although they are still more of testimonials. For instance, the Onoje of Uromi in Esan North East, His Royal Highness, Anslem Aidonojie, commended the Obaseki administration for the developmental strides in Edo State, including the construction of ten roads at Uromi alone. The venerated Esan king who once had a tiff with the former governor, Adams Oshiomole, leading to his dethronement, was concerned by development more than his reinstatement by Governor Obaseki.
At Ekpoma, headquarters of Esan West Local Government, the story was even more profound, leading to very emotional scenes. Under Obaseki’s predecessor, Oshiomole, Ekpoma was a town forsaken. The town which produced one of the best governors of the state, Prof. Ambrose Ali of blessed memory was like a city bearing a curse. For whatever reason, the government simply abandoned the town and its university, even as criminality took over the environment. The fortunes of the Ambrose Ali University plummeted as the National University Commission (NUC) withdrew accreditation from some of the faculties that used to be the best. The glory departed from the citadel of learning even as Oshiomole inexplicably built a fresh one from the scratch opposite his abode at Iyamo, near Auchi, less than forty minutes’ drive from the forsaken Ambrose Ali University.
The story has changed under Obaseki. The broken-down road infrastructure at Ekpoma has returned to life. The students tell their stories and the lecturers are also singing a new song. Travelling on a journey with a lecturer from the University early this year, one of the most respected professors of the institution confessed to those who cared to hear that for the first time in his academic career, he was no longer ashamed to invite visitors to his office. The surprised occupants of the vehicle asked him what happened. The Professor explained that the coming of Governor Obaseki has brought infrastructure renaissance to the institution with the proliferation of new buildings all over the place.
The governor, he enthused, has brought life to the university and by extension to the whole of Ekpoma and its environs. This sense of achievement may also have stirred some fire inside the governor. Speaking to an appreciative Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness, Anthony Ehizojie Abumere, during his campaign, Obaseki explained that he could not understand why a university town would be allowed to decay, a consciousness that pushed him to fix the town and the university, promising to do even more.
But for elections, nobody was talking about all these things; the students and institution confessed and celebrated their luck quietly and the people simply returned to their old ways even as they prayed for the man who remembered them. Put all this together, the conclusion is right that Obaseki is taciturn and doesn’t fit the model of an everyday politician.
“If he wasn’t a politician,” Senator Domingo Obende pointed out, “he wouldn’t be out there canvassing for votes. Rather he is a very good man who people claim to be arrogant because of his intellect and superior reasoning. A longtime friend of Obaseki, who remains a high ranking member of the APC, Obende is praying for the success of Obaseki in the coming elections because “he is a performer, a prudent man, someone whose desire is to make people’s lives better, and I think God sent him at a time like this to become a catalyst for change in Edo State. I wish him well.”
On why this support across party lines, Obende explained the nature of his character, the kind of person who would never abandon a friend for the decision he has taken. Explaining the relationship that preceded political activism, he pointed out that “previously, myself and Governor Obaseki belonged to the same political party and we stood on common grounds. We are from the same business community. We both lived in Lagos at different times before moving to Edo State. He is seeking the second term in office as I did in 2015. He has performed excellently well as the governor of Edo State; I also did very well as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as I projected Edo North in a very good light. So many things can be linked to my relationship with Governor Obaseki. I see him as an intelligent person and when Adams Oshiomole introduced Obaseki and said clearly that Obaseki would do better than he (Oshiomole) did, I believed him. Without mincing words, Obaseki has performed creditably well. I see no reason why I shouldn’t be one of his crusaders. I know he means well for Edo State, and I believe in his second term, he will do better.”
But in Nigeria, character attestation doesn’t buy votes, otherwise, politicians with woolly background parading Chicago certificates, will not be the poster image of the country’s politics. Obende says the character is very important but also readily points to projects that will greenlight development across the state. The Ogbe Stadium in the heart of the state capital has been totally refurbished and restored beyond old glory. The power plant at Ossiomo and the Edo Modular Refinery at Ologbo, which are near state of completion are perfect examples of a creative leader who looks more at the future than immediate benefits. When in operation, the projects will brighten the developmental strides of the state and beyond, provide a job for tens of thousands and boost the economy and life of the people in general.
There have been criticisms however that these are private projects being appropriated by Obaseki for political benefits. To this, some have quickly responded that the responsibility of government is to provide a good environment for businesses and also be able to go into private relationships with individuals and corporate bodies that can flag projects that will benefit the people. Globally, the government doesn’t always have enough money to do projects. The new word is PPP – public-private partnership. Some people are of the opinion that with the power plant and refinery, Obaseki is actually pointing the way Nigeria should go and should be praised instead of being condemned.
“I think Obaseki should be given political peace, and various forms of development would come to Edo people,” Obende counselled.
Elder Augustine Giwa Agbomeirele also affirmed that Obaseki is a strategic thinker who is very deliberate in his choices, and therefore would need the next four years to consolidate on the structure he is building for Edo State. An original PDP member who worked very closely with Chief Anthony Anenih, the Ishan sage of blessed memory, Agbomeirele confessed that he didn’t know that Obaseki was doing so much until the romance with the PDP started. Now, he explained, the governor is an easy sell having done so much for the state, including correcting the imbalances imposed on the state by the governor before him under which the Esan people suffered disgrace and orchestrated neglect. Besides, he has also catered for a particular group of people that were overlooked by previous governments, the pensioners.
While assessing ongoing campaigns in Edo State, Agbomeirele explained that the biggest campaigners for Governor Obaseki in terms of impact are the pensioners who are no longer hungry after the governor has paid all their pension arrears. Pointing out that what happened to the pensioners before the present administration in the state was pitiable, Agomeirele lamented that “a situation where at over 60 years one was reduced virtually to nothing without pension having served your state for over 30 years, wasn’t a sight to recall. A man wants to be able to feed himself, put food on the family’s table and be able to address other personal needs. That Edo State pensioner is able to do courtesy of the governor.” he said.
Unlike some people who claim they can’t trace anything to Obaseki in terms of development, Agbomeirele avowed that he could point to tangible things that Obaseki has done in the area of education which is attracting peer review within and outside the country, healthcare, the elderly in terms of pension, and even in terms of fresh project development.
“I believe it is commendable when people say he is running into political brick walls because he is stingy and not extravagant as other politicians, and also very arrogant. You cannot accuse him of wasting people’s money. Even those who campaign against him cannot accuse him of wastages. This much I know. In another four years, he has set up things, structures and infrastructure that will affect the social, economic and political climate of Edo State and bring meaningful development to the people. I was blind, now I can see,” Agbomoirele enthused.
In the manner of Agbomoirele, the political campaigns in Edo State are opening up blind eyes, figuratively. But the choice is clear. Between an incumbent and a wannabe, between a strategic, structured thinker and a fellow with a hazy past, and between a man who rests his hopes on the people and a has-been who wants to appropriate the power of the people. The choice is clear. Not about one man but about the future of the state.

[8/30, 9:55 PM] Bobby Eghosa Obayuwana: [8/30, 9:01 AM] Bobby Eghosa Obayuwana: *“Oshiomhole’s Eight Year Death Toll Administration VS Obaseki’s Landslide Achievements For The Past Four Years In Edo State”*
*-By Comrade Obayuwana Bobby Eghosa*
The Sorrowful Eight-Year Tenure of Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole will forever be remembered by the Good People of Edo who witnessed the height of heartlessness, as a sitting Governor telling a widow to “go and die”, as if She is not a human being.
Oshiomhole’s dirty attitude also saw him blatantly insulting Sir Chief (Dr) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom and Honourary Romanian Consul to Edo & Delta States respectively.
He went further to insult the Late Tony Anenih because he could not hide his “Power Drunken Attitude” that badly affected his brains like someone who is suffering from the negative effects of hard drugs like Cocaine, Marijuana or Heroine.
He later became a “Controversial APC National Chairman” that has lost most elections in the party and reduced the number of APC States from 26 to 19 currently due to his “Mad Retrogressive ways of politicking” which is not what we knew him from right from his Nigerian Labour Congress days that brought him to limelight, where he later became the Executive Governor of Edo State.
Instead, he chose to be a problematic fellow to those around him by fermenting ceaseless troubles just to flaunt his “dirty pride and project His weak relevance”
This man also had the guts to rape our Democracy in broad day light when he, Professor Jonathan Yakubu and their now dissolved Caucus Members of the National Working Committee of the APC, where Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki was unjustly disqualified from the APC on June 12, 2020, a day that Nigerians and Nigeria would always live to remember in Her History.
But this *“Intellectual Food For The Edo Minds & Souls”* would never be complete without the several death tolls that was recorded during Oshiomohole’s Tenure from the Media, Family, Workers and Even Pensioners, in which SIMON EBEGBULEM & GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE both reported how the political-tension in Edo State was heightened on the 4th of May, 2015 when Oshiomhole’s aide was assassinated
The assassination of the Principal Private Secretary, PPS, to Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Deputy National Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde sparked up so many reactions, many of whom asserted that the deceased death may have been political due to the noisy, troublesome and reckless nature of Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole whose “political madness” became a norm for all His fellow touts (Agberoes), Charlatans, riff raffs and dirty pigs in form of audio lions and tigers ho are naturally meant for places like the famous Ogba Zoo In Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria.
Oyerinde was reported to have been murdered at his Second Ugbor residence, GRA Benin City at about 1:30 am by unknown gunmen who had since been suspected to come from the church of Oshiomhole’s Fake Pastor whom Oshiomhole even attested to the fact that he “carries Bible during the day and AK47 Pump Action” whom unfortunately he is currently projecting under the Colonel Imuse led faction of Edo Peoples’ Movement.”
Similarly, the previous week to be precise before then the governor’s convoy which was involved in a serious autocrash while returning from a political rally in Afuze, along Warrake-Auchi road, Etsako West Local Government Council of the state, leaving three journalists dead.
Oshiomhole who shamelessly pretended to be very shocked about the news of his former aide’s assasination while in Abuja, arrived Benin City the previous day at about 1pm, where he deceitfully gave the police 14 days to unravel the killers, including those whom according to him, “plotted to kill themselves in an accident last week, else anything can happen,” even as he wept profusely using his “usual scheming dramatic Crocodile tears” to deceive Edo People after a reliable source confirmed that Olaitan’s death was linked to him.
Officials of Edo State government as at then who confirmed the incident, believe that Oyerinde’s killing was part of a series of attacks targeted at the governor who is standing for re-election on July 14,2016 from the opposition camp that was also led by the POIsonous Fake Pastor Ize Iyamu (as it is being currently played out by Ize Iyamu and the APC).
During that period of time, Government officials in Edo, however, believed that the accident was masterminded by opposition politicians(being led by the POIsonous and ever dangerous Fake Mallam Pastor Ize Iyamu), as part of an assasination plot targeted at the former Governor who is now more of a threat to the Government, lives, property, general safety and wellbeing of the Edo People.
Oshiomhole’s former spokesman, Mr Tony Iyare, also attested to the fact that the then Commissioner for Information, Louis Odion, had earlier escaped similar attacks in recent days. Late Olaitan who held a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos was born in Ilorin, Kwara State.
He started trade unionism with the Iron and Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, before he became the Chairman of the Lagos branch of the Campaign for Democracy, CD. In 2001, he joined the NLC and was the Deputy General Secretary before taking a leave of absence to work with Oshiomhole.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the OCO, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, at a news conference at the Aguobasimwin campaign office in Benin however, said that Oyerinde’s killing “gives us reasonable cause for concern.
“Against the backdrop of the fact that it is happening on the heels of an orchestrated fatal auto crash involving the governor only a week ago. “We are further informed that our political adversaries plan to orchestrate road accidents and kidnapping of prominent ACN leaders.” The big question the Good People of Edo State should ask here is how did these evil plans come about and who was the opposition that mostly likely would have masterminded them?
Ize-Iyamu also alleged that the organisation was also aware that “they have also planned to plant bombs in strategic locations, especially campaign grounds just to occasion mayhem. “When you juxtapose these events, we are not in doubt that all this is all about politics of do-or-die and an atavistic attempt to capture power by crude and foul means.
Another question that Edo People should ask here is “How did he know of the planting of bombs plan at strategic location to the extent that he even has to use the campaign ground as His own study for political analysis? Has he witnessed such in His life before or be actively involved in such activity for him to just beautifully describe such dispeakable act? Or Perhaps, the campaign ground as at then was where he and his POIsonous political scavengers and cohorts usually test for the efficacy of atomic bombs, like it was their Sahara Desert?
Maybe the answers you will get will enable decipher the kind of leadership you want in Edo and not an imposition from anybody whatsoever.
Furthermore, “Ize Iyamu even called on the Commissioner of Police to take prompt and decisive action with a view to smashing this dastardly political killer squad”, as if he was no longer their usual political boss. He added that “politically motivated assassination as a vehicle for attaining political power has never been part of Edo state political culture (but he is trying to making it part of our culture judging from what happened in the Oba’s Palace and what also transpired in Edo North recently.
*“And this is the time for law enforcement agents all well meaning people and of Edo to rise with one voice and tell the political desperadoes to put their murderous and assasination genie back in the bottle,” he said.*
All Edolites should take note of these words that came out from the mouth of that POIsonous Fake Pastor whose actions now reflect the true personality of him as a “desperate wicked pastor with no shame whatsoever which is very unethical from any political leader and not just a mere politician”
How Oyerinde was killed: Saturday Vanguard gathered that the four suspected assassins stormed his residence at about 1:30am. They were said to have jumped the fence and three of them gained entrance to his living room through the front door. The protector leading to his parlor was however not locked when they gained entrance. On recognizing that it was Oyerinde’s brother-in-law who was actually sleeping on the bed, they immediately left him and went for the wife, Funke, asking her to lead them to the husband who, unknown to them, was sleeping in the living room.On sighting him, they instantly fired four shots, one on the head, chest, abdomen and hip, killing Oyerinde instantly. The gunmen later fled after they carted away his phones and that of his wife’s laptop and car keys. Saturday Vanguard observed a pool of blood in his bedroom and the foot steps of the suspected assassins by the fence. A crack team of detectives from the homicide section of the State Police Command had however taken over the compound as at the time of filing this report.
The night guard, Ali Alhadi narrated the incident to newsmen: “I came out to urinate and two people held me and pointed gun at me. They collected my wife’s head-ties and tied my hands behind. They jumped the fence and entered the house. The protector of the house was not locked. I used to lock it but after Oga changed the keys ,he started locking it himself. “Before they entered the house, they were asking me for money but I said I did not have money. Three of them entered the house while one was outside and it was the one outside that went to his window and shot him three times. After that they left”.
Edo Youths react to killing: There was outrage over the killing as thousands of youths carrying mock coffin wrapped with the flag of an opposition political party took over the major streets in Benin City, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to set up a high powered panel to investigate the killing. The youths led by Mr. Tony Kabaka- Adun who is now One the Evil Leaders of Political Lions and Tigers seeking whom to devour in Edo State, also carried placards as at that period of time with various inscriptions such as “Political Killings Cannot Stop Development,” “Enough is Enough,” “If killing No Stop, Yawah Go Dey” to express their outrage over the killing which came on the heels of the recent death of three journalists in the convoy of the state governor.
Speaking with news men at the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre, Kabaka- Adun said, “Edo youths are not happy with what is happening in the state (can he ask such a question now?). In the past, elections were conducted into the National and State Houses of Assembly, there were no killings and we thought that the era of one man, one vote has come to stay. They are killing to frustrate Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (just as they are trying to distract Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki but their evils plans can never work). Those people who want to achieve their aims of destabilizing the state are using killings to achieve their objectives. “We have seen the good things that the Oshiomhole administration is doing and nobody knew that there was money in this state until Governor Oshiomhole came. They tried to kill him with a tipper last week, they did not succeed” (Masterminded by who? What a Fake Pastor!).
The then youth leader also warned that they would not fold their arms and allow innocent people to be slaughtered like animals, adding that if the killings in the state did not stop, *“We will burn their houses and send them away from the state”,* which justifies His Very High Propensity for Violence and Vandalism both of which all well meaning Edolites are now fed up of.
Edolites should never forget in a hurry how many Pensioners were practically slumping and dying all in a bid to collecting their monthly stipends from the Edo State Government which was a total shame on His Part as then, the Governor of Edo State whose administration can never be compared to that of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki who pays salary as from the 25th of every month, gratuities and pensions are not also left out of the picture as he has been the most consistent Governor and Leader in Nigeria to ever achieve such feat. Little wonder he was given the best Governor and Silver Bird Man of the Year by Ben Murray Bruce because of his good works so far.
Also, Oshiomhole’s wife from nowhere suddenly developed cancer and died of which the short man decided to use the Edo State’s Treasury as at then to marry Ihara (A Air Hostess) whom decided to follow the “Ugly Monkey Looking Man” because of the money he was throwing around like a drug dealer.
Other persons like Modinor Emovon, Greg Haruna, Chris Nwachukwu, with Philip Shaibu, the Current Deputy Governor of Edo State and running mate to Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki all left Oshiomhole because of his wicked, dubious and heartless ways of doing things and carrying himself.
However, Oshiomhole’s *“Jamboree of a totally failed political career” can never be compared with that of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki’s Led Administration that been explicitly known for Innovative Governance & Attainment of Developmental Strides in all ramifications”.*
The only *unfortunate but fortunate death” that the Obaseki & Shaibu Led Administration has recorded so far is the “Total Death of Agbero Peoples’ Congress (APC) whose funeral would take place on the 19th of September, 2020 in Edo State and in the entire South South Geopolitical Region of Nigeria”*
This will further rewrite the democracy of not just and Edo but that of the entire Nigeria as a nation and also be a fore runner to the 2023 Presidential Elections where the *“Not Too Young Run Act”* would automatically kick start fully by the Special Grace of God Almighty through Christ Jesus Amen (Insha Allah Ameen!)

[8/30, 9:09 AM] Ehis SSA PDP: *Oje of Ora refutes conferment of traditional title on Ize-Iyamu*
The Oje of Ora-designate, Prof. Joshua Unuigboje Aisiku, has refuted media reports that he conferred the Oyakhire of Ora chieftaincy title on Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19, 2020 governorship election.
Briefing journalists in Benin City, Aisiku described the claim by the APC candidate as a scam, noting that the action is against the customs and tradition of the Ora people.
He said: “I refute that report categorically in the strongest terms because it is devoid of any iota of truth. I want to make it clear that I never conferred any title on anybody.
“Reports that Ize-Iyamu was conferred with the title of Oyakhire of Ora, and that I, Chief Joshua Aisiku, conferred the title on him is a lie and a scam. I didn’t confer any title on the APC candidate, Ize-Iyamu on the 27th of August, 2020.”
According to him, “No chief has the right or power to confer honourary title on any individual as that right rests in the Oje of Ora exclusively.”
The Oje-designate said: “Some aspects of the media also said one chief Joshua Ikhidero and Chief John Akhihiero conferred the title on the APC candidate against all known tradition and customs of Ora. They didn’t consult any other chief, except the ones they put together.
“We have records that the past Oje of Ora, who has joined the ancestors conferred titles on some individuals, including the former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion; former Deputy Governor, Mike Oghiadomhe and the retired Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.”
He stressed: “The report of one chief giving title to Ize-Iyamu is against the customs and traditions of Ora. The rally they claimed was held to give him the title was held in Eme-Ora not in Sabongida-Ora as reported in social media. The event took place in the private residence of Chief John Akhihiero, not in the palace as reported in the social media. He has no palace, neither does he have any rights to call his residence a palace.”
Aisiku said Chief John Akhihiero claimed to be the Okojenaga of Ora, noting that “there is no such title but Okojenaga of Ohia.
“I was neither in Eme-Ora nor Ohia when this claimed title was given to APC candidate for the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State.”

[8/30, 6:46 PM] IK SSA DIGITAL MEDIA EDO: *Edo Modular Refinery to earn $125m per annum from Naptha export, reset state’s economy*
The Edo Modular Refinery being developed by Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (ERPC) with support from the Edo State Government is set to earn about $125m foreign exchange from the exportation of naptha, which is one of the major products from the facility.
Chairman of ERPC, Michael Osime, who disclosed this in a statement, said the refinery benefits from the federal government’s ease of doing business programme through which it granted fiscal incentives such as duty waiver on importation of equipment.
The refinery has reached 90 per cent mechanical completion and efforts are in top gear to beat a September 2020 commissioning deadline, with a team of over 250 locally-recruited engineers, fabricators and other workers engaged on the project.
On expansion, Osime said the company would “meet 18 per cent of local demand for diesel and earn in excess of $125m from export of Napha per annum,” noting that the refinery would rejig the state’s economy by attracting feeder industries.
He added that the Edo State Government provided a N700m project support fund that accelerated the establishment of the company in the state, after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese Consortium led by Peiyang Chemical and Equipment Company of China (PCC) and its Nigerian partners, Africa Infrastructure Partners Limited (AIPL).
According to him, “The Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company is a beneficiary of the Edo State Government’s policy of attracting investment to the state. The state government supported the refinery with project support fund of N700 million, which will be paid back to Edo State Government when production commences. This was a catalyst to the project to ensure quick take-off.
“We are also a beneficiary of Edo State Government’s incentive programme to attract manufacturing companies to locate in Edo State. The incentives gave birth to a Nigerian-Chinese joint venture company, AIPCC Energy Limited.”
He noted that the company secured its licence to establish a refinery (LTE) on December 10, 2018 and approval to construct (ATC) on March 11, 2019 from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), noting that DPR has been extremely helpful in guiding the process of the establishment of the facility.

The traditional ruler of Udo Community in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness, Ekhorutomwen Igbinidu, has commended the deputy governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu for not betraying his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Benin Kingdom.
The monarch who endorsed the reelection of Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State, noted: “This deputy that is following you is my friend. We have been friends for years.
“He (Shaibu) is not a Benin man, but he chose to join the Benin people to liberate Edo State. He has adapted. It shall be well with him. Nothing will be difficult for you. No evil will befall you.
“Let them say whatever they want to say against you, it will not have any effects on you. The ancestors who sent you on errand will make things easy for you. What will be good for the Oba and Edo people and the state is what we stand for. God has done it. The people have approved it.”
The monarch also prayed for the victory of the governor and his deputy in the forthcoming poll, assuring them of unflinching support of the people.
On his part, Governor Obaseki reassured: “I will make the College of Agriculture here in Iguoriakhi different from every other College of Agriculture in Nigeria. By the grace of God, before the middle of 2021, the school would have been completed. It will be one of the best Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria.
“The institution will train students in the area of farming, extension services and how to utilise technology in farming. To ensure all these campaign promises are fulfilled, I appeal to you to come out en masse on September 19, 2020 to cast your vote for the PDP and stay to defend it.”
He also promised to construct the Iguobazuwa-Udo-Nikorowa Road if re-elected.

The Edo State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Godwin Obaseki, has called on voters to come out en masse on September 19, 2020 to exercise their franchise without fear of harassment or intimidation as President Muhammadu Buhari has assured him of a free, credible and peaceful election in the state.
Obaseki gave the assurance while addressing party faithful during his reelection campaign rally in Ovia South West Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
According to the governor, “President Buhari has assured me that the Edo election will be peaceful. There will be peace in Edo; don’t be intimidated by the opposition, before, during and after the election.
“They are not more than us in number; vote and make sure your vote counts. Stay back in your polling units to ensure they count your vote in your present.
“To start with, after my reelection, I will construct the Udo access road, the Ofunama Road and the Nikorogha Road. The construction of these roads was hindered by godfathers who were disturbing me to share taxpayers’ money for their selfish interests.
“The forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state is about setting me free from the hands of those godfathers who never meant well for Edo people.
“These godfathers were hounding me over money meant for Edo’s development, they never wanted me to work for the people. Even with them on me, I still spread infrastructural projects across the state. Imagine me as governor without any godfather.”
“Your turnout today is an indication that you are going to vote massively for the PDP, and when I return as governor, I will construct more roads, extend electricity to you, build more schools and employ and train more teachers from this locality,” he said.
On his part, Deputy Director-General of Edo State PDP Campaign Council, Mr. Gideon Ikhine, charged the electorate to be on the alert and report strange faces in their communities to the security agencies.
He further urged them to come out en masse on September 19, 2020 to vote for the PDP so as to return the governor to office to continue with his administration’s people-centric programmes and policies.

[8/30, 6:46 PM] IK SSA DIGITAL MEDIA EDO: *Edo Govt urges residents to clear waterways, desilt gutters ahead FG’s severe flooding warning*
The Edo State Government has called on residents to commence the desilting of gutters, canals and moats in their area to prepare the state for the severe flooding predicted by the federal government.
Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, who spoke to journalists on Sunday, in Benin City, the state capital, advised residents to pay heed to the federal government’s warning.
Osagie said: “Last week, the federal government through the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) warned that Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Rivers and Bayelsa states which are contiguous to River Niger will likely experience severe flooding in September.
“To mitigate the impact of this natural disaster that may affect us in Edo State, all hands must be on deck. We must desist from dumping refuse in waterways as the indiscriminate dumping of dirt and refuse into gutters and other water channels can cause blockage and exacerbate the impact of the coming floods.”
The governor’s aide noted that “the Obaseki-led government has prioritised the need to arrest flooding across the state by embarking on several water detention pond projects,” adding “We have improved the state’s drainage systems, completed erosion and flood control projects in the three senatorial districts of the state.”
According to him, “Some sites which have been completed to mitigate flooding in the state include; Oshiobugie Flood and Gully Erosion plain, Auchi; Queen Ede Flood and Gully Erosion plain, Benin City and Ekehuan Road Gully/West Moat Flood and Gully Erosion catchment, Benin City, among others.”
Osagie further said that all relevant agencies of government have been put on alert to adequately respond to any unforeseen occurrence in the weeks ahead.
He advised members of the public to avoid walking or driving in the rain, especially near drainage channels. “Parents must avoid sending children on errands when it is about to rain or immediately after rainfall.”
He warned against walking in floodwaters because of live electricity cables, to avoid electrocution and advised residents to switch off all utilities in the building once it starts to rain.
The NIHSA which gave the red alert in a statement issued by its Director General, Mr. Clement Nze, noted that Nigeria will be hit by the disaster because Nigeria is located at the lowest portion of the Niger Basin.
Nze explained that the flood level of River Niger monitored in Niamey, Niger Republic was 6.60m, adding that the flood magnitude is expected to arrive Nigeria through Kebbi State around September 6, 2020.
