The crisis bedevilling the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has taken a different dimension as Exco members of the Edo central senatorial district have distanced themselves from a purported rally said to be taking place in the Edo Central Senatorial District.

A statement issued to newsmen on Monday and signed by eleven officials of the party in senatorial district said “our attention has been drawn to a disclaimer signed by one Bishop Anthony Okosun stating that the PDP Senatorial Executives in Edo Central Senatorial District are part of the jamborees going on in the name of party rallies”.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to State categorically that no member of the PDP Edo Central Senatorial District Executive Committee, outside the chairman is in anyway part of the shamed rallies”.

It said it is not aware and was never briefed about any rally.

The party said the Senatorial Secretary acted in accordance with the decisions of the enlarged Senatorial Executive Committee meeting.

It added that no member of the Legacy PDP in the Senatorial District is part of the rallies of candidates that did not emerge from the valid primaries conducted by their party.

The party has therefore called on all party executives and members in all the local governments, wards and units to stay away from what it called the jamborees being organized by the strangers who seek to dismember the once united and unbeatable party in the Senatorial District.

There has been a battle of distrust and betrayal going on the zonal chapter of the party, where party faithful and leaders from Esan are accusing the embattled senatorial chairman, Bishop Okosun of sell-out and betraying the people of the senatorial district and many are calling for his removal as they have lost confidence in his leadership which has been tagged to be working for his personal interest as against the overall interest of the people of Edo central.
