Pensioners in Nasarawa state hoping to get their N40bn backlog of gratuity owed them may have to wait indefinitely. This he said, he was considering a downward review of 2O2O budget.

The reason being that the state governor, Abdullahi Sule said his administration may spend the whole term In office without getting the money to pay the gratuity.

He made this public Thursday during a media chat at the Government House in continuation of activities marking his one year in office.

” Even if you electe me ten times I will not be able to pay all the gratuity of pensioners which is over N40bn” he said.

The governor explained that the state’s Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR) which hit N1.2bn in February had reduced down ward to between N500m-N600m since the advent of coronavirus pandemic.

Sule said that he would have achieved more strides in the past one year if he had met much more when he assumed office.

The governor said that his administration was considering a down ward reverse of the 2020 budget as the current budget was no longer realistic due challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
