UN Body makes James Umeh Patron

An Abuja based journalist, Chief James Ume, has received the rare honour of been made a Patron of the United Towns Agency (UTA) for North South Cooperation.

In a letter made available to PenPushers announcing the appointment of Ume, signed by Secretary General, of the UnitedUNation body, Eya Essif and dated August 15, 2022, states that, Mr. James Ume, Nigeria, from this day 15/08/2022 is officially appointed PATRON of ÜTA Executive Office in Nigeria”.

His role includes advising  support in various ways and promote the activities of UTA in Nigeria towards actualising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the country and other objectives of UTA.

The “United Towns Agency for North South Cooperation (UTA), a United Nations Organisation for International Cooperation, approved through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in the Category of Special Consultative Status under the term of ECOSOC resolution 1996/31 listed in the register of NGOs (CH-550.1.160.191-0), hereby designate by mutual agreement the members of the Board of Trustees of the UTA executive officer in Nigeria (UTA Nigeria) in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the statutes of the United Towns Agency for North South Cooperation (UTA).

In a congratulory message, Chairman of Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abuja Council, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche described the honour as well deserved.

According to him; “The honour does not come to me as a surprise, as my friend and ling time acquaintance, James benevolence to the need of others is well documented.

“He has been a pillar of support to many in the society which was instrumental to his confernment with a traditional title by the traditional council in his native community in Abia state which only recently conferred him with a traditional title that enables him to sit in council with the Eze and other titled men”.
