The authoritries of Bingham University, Karu in Nasarawa state say it’s subsidiary, Zankli Research center has been granted approval by NIgeria Center for Disease Control but(NCDC) to commence testing for coronaviurs.
A press statement signed by the Director of the Center, Dr. John Bimba and made available to newsmen Thursday said the center has the capacity to test and produced 300 in one hour.
The statement read in parts: “The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) has approved Bingham University’s Zankli Research Centre to commence private testing of COVID-19”
“We have a maximum capacity of 300 tests per day and that each sample could be ready in one hour.
“We use GeneXpert Xpress Cartridges that has the capacity to give results in less than an hour.” He said”
According to the statement, Zankli Research Center has been activated and approved for COVID-19 test on June 16 by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as a Centre for the testing of Covid-19 designated for Nasarawa State.
Dr. John Bimba said that the Centre has been in existence for TB, HIV and other research work. It is an out patient center for test of samples only and does not have bed capacity.
He explained that the out-patient center is for Sample collection and testing only and deos not have bed space.
