Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has joined the long list of politicians that have dumped the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
Announcing his decision to leave the APC and pitch camp with his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ortom alluded to insecererity and equity as reason for his move.
There have been speculations as to Ortom’s next move having being quoted to have at two different fora said and countered statements credited to him that he was leaving the APC.
Reacting to the Governor’s decision, excited Benue youths who thronged the declaration ceremony expressed support for his move. Carried placards which read; “Ortom don’t go back to APC,” “We don’t have land to donate for ranching,” “APC is Miyetti party,” Our farms are not for cows,” You must leave APC,” Ortom is our party, ” and “2019: On Ortom we stand.”
Orton becomes the first APC governor to have decamped since a splinter group emerged in the party last month.
