Its Atiku vs Buhari * as Atiku wins landslide at PDP Primaries

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won easily at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary conducted in the Garden city of Port-Harcourt today.

The election which took place inside the mainbowl of the Adokie Amiesimeka stadium saw party faithful staying twenty four (24) hrs to see to the conclusion of what many has adjudged as the most peaceful, free and fair election since the 1993 annulled election.

Delegates were subjected to scrutiny and their numbers by states announced to the generality of the people.

When it was time for voting, the orderliness witnessed was a beauty to behold. Counting was done in the general glare of all present.

At the end of counting of votes Atiku came tops with a landslide victory by scoring a total of 1532 votes to defeat his closest contestant, Sokoto state Governor Aminu Tambuwal who scored 693 votes.

Senate President Bukola Saraki came a distant third by garnering 317 votes.

Result shows that Rabiu Kwakwanso scored 158, Governor Dakwanbo, 111, Sule Lamido, 96, Ahmed Markafi, 74 and Kabiru Turaki, 65 votes.

Other aspirants; Bafarawa,48, David Mark, 35, Jonah Jang, 19 while Datti Ahmed came last by scoring only 5 votes.

It is instructive to note that before the elections proper, all the contestants promised to work with whosoever emerged winner. This they all demonstrated by standing with Atiku when he gave his acceptance speech after being formally presented to the party by Chairman of the convention committee, Governor Okowa of Delta state.

A total of 68 votes were voided.
